Large Hand Painted Stoneware Tea Pot by Xochiquetzal

Xochiquetzal Stoneware

This stylish tea pot comes from the "Grecas" design series by Xochiquetzal of Tonalá, Mexico. The word "greca" literally means "border" and refers to the decorative fringe that adorns all items in this line of stoneware, and which may be seen in the accompanying photos.  This tea pot was manually shaped, carefully painted by hand, and then fired at very high temperatures.

With the lid in place, the tea pot measures just under 7". The "bowl" of the tea pot—not including the handle and spout—is approximately 5 1/2" in diameter and holds approximately 48 liquid ounces.
